General Information
Papers submitted to Tencon'05 must be original and previously unpublished. It is expected they will describe new contributions to the areas outlined in the Scope of the Conference. A full paper of not more than 6 pages including abstract in standard IEEE double column format is requested. Additional pages will only be accepted upon payment of a fee of $A100 per page. At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference if the paper is to be included in the program.
Papers will be reviewed by peers in a process whereby the author is known to the reviewers but the author will not know who reviews their paper. If the paper is accepted for presentation, it must be presented by one of its authors.
All presenting authors must be registered by 18 September 2005 for their paper to appear in the Proceedings. Notification of withdrawal must be received by 1 November 2005. Authors wishing to withdraw their paper after registering will only receive a partial refund. Registered presenters who fail to attend the Conference without notification to the Conference Secretariat will not be refunded the registration fee.
Abstracts will be published separately as part of the Conference Program. All papers published in Tencon'05 Proceedings will be fully indexed
by IEEEXplore.
Tencon'05 will incorporate a special track for telecommunications research which is to be co-sponsored by ATNAC 2005 which is a major Australian conference bringing together telecommunications and research and development staff from universities and industrial research laboratories. The track will feature special invited and keynote speakers from the international telecommunications industry. Special poster sessions will enable ongoing research work to be presented by researchers and postgraduates.

Camera-ready Papers - Final Paper Format and Submission
Authors of accepted papers should prepare and submit the final camera-ready paper by final paper submission deadline. Total paper length should be 6 camera ready pages, including illustrations and references. An extra charge of 100AUD applies for any extra page.
Authors must submit their papers in Portable Document Format (PDF), via Web upload. The document must not be encrypted, locked, or otherwise write-protected.
1. Style Files and Templates
As guidance for you, below are the simple instructions for formatting your paper. We have included an IEEE sample manuscript which gives a more detailed explanation of IEEE formatting standards. We have also included simple Word and LaTeX paper templates as a starting point. These are not in a "Tencon'05 format" because we cannot guarantee that every computer will open these correctly. Therefore you will need to use the guidelines and more detailed explanation in the sample_manscript.pdf to correctly format your paper, including setting of margins.:
- All papers must be in English
- Full papers must be no more than 6 pages including abstract.
- All papers must start with an abstract of 250 words or less.
- Paper size: A4
- Margins:
top: 1.9 cm
bottom: 4.3 cm
left: 1.3 cm
right: 1.3 cm
column width: 8.8 cm
column separation: 0.4 cm
- Paragraph indention 0.35 cm
- Format: two-column format, including figures and tables. Spacing between columns should be 0.4cm
- Font type: Times New Roman
- Text size: 10 pt
- Footnote text size: 9pt
- Paper title: 20pt
- Authors name(s): 11 pt
- Heading 1: Times New Roman, 10 pt, Small Caps
- Heading 2: Times New Roman, 10pt, italic
- Line spacing should be 1
- Do not embed any fonts in the document
- Do not number pages
- Figures and tables must be labelled with clear captions
Papers should adhere to the standard IEEE double-column format for conferences. The following style files and templates are available for preparing the paper. Use the sample manuscript as a visual aid for formatting.
A suggested sample MS WORD conference template is A4.doc and sample LaTeX conference template is Latex_Template.tex for which you also need the IEEEtran.cls style file.
Please format your paper according to the dot point instructions given above and the sample manuscript. Double-check the paper size in your page setup to make sure you are using the A4 size paper layout (210 x 297mm). Please print your paper and proof read it to ensure that all of the formatting has come out correctly.
2. PDF Conformance
IEEE is very strict about the requirements for converting application files or PostScript files to full text PDF for inclusion in IEEE Xplore®.
To facilitate the PDF conformance checking or to create a PDF file conforming IEEE demands out of your source, Tencon'05 has registered for use of a new IEEE tool, the IEEE PDF eXpress™. IEEE PDF eXpress is a free service to IEEE conferences, allowing their authors to check for IEEE Xplore® compatibility of PDFs that authors have made themselves (PDF Check function) or to make IEEE Xplore®-compatible PDFs through source upload (Conversion function).
Please follow the steps below to complete the final paper submission process:
1) Create your manuscript(s), and name the file " Your EDAS Number.pdf ".
2) Proof read and check the layout of the manuscript (it is highly recommended that you do this before going to IEEE PDF eXpress).
3) Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account.
Go to the IEEE eXpress web site at http://216.228.1.34/pdfexpress/log.asp and log in using a Conference ID tencon05 if you are a registered user. If you are not a registered user, click on "New users - Click Here" register your self and then log in using the same conference ID.
4) Use IEEE PDF eXpress to test IEEE Xplore compatibility of PDF(s)
This is done through uploading PDF(s) for Checking and/or source file(s)
for Conversion at IEEE PDF eXpress web page. In most cases, if you are
unable to generate an IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF, you have the option
to submit your source file(s) for conversion. If you are submitting
LaTeX submission, you would need to submit your DVI file+supported
source images in EPS format as a single compressed file such as .zip,
.tgz etc. If you have a PS version of your paper you may just upload that file
instead. This will allow the IEEE PDF eXpress system to generate an IEEE Xplore
compatible PDF for you. The site contains extensive instructions, resources, helpful
hints, and access to technical support. Any modification to the PDF
document made after passing the PDF check may cause to lose PDF
compliance, let the PDF check always be your last action with the PDF
file before submission.
Be aware that IEEE PDF eXpress is just PDF checking or creating service, but not a conference paper submission place .
5) If your paper failed to pass the IEEE PDF eXpress then please create a new version of your paper using "submit Source Files for conversion to PDF"
6) Submit final, IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF(s) through EDAS system.

Copyright
IEEE policy requires that, prior to publication, all authors or their employers must transfer to the IEEE in writing any copyright they hold for their individual papers. Transferring copyright is a necessary requirement for publication, except for material in the public domain or which is reprinted with permission from a previously published, copyrighted publication.
Upon transferring copyright to IEEE, authors and/or their companies have the right to post their IEEE-copyrighted material on their own servers without permission, provided that the server displays a prominent notice alerting readers to their obligations with respect to copyrighted material and that the posted work includes an IEEE copyright notice.
Authors are particularly encouraged to note the "Author Responsibilities" section of the IEEE Copyright Form, in which portions of IEEE Policies 6.3B (concerning statements in work published by IEEE are the expression of the authors), and IEEE Policies 6.4 (concerning the submission of original work) appear.
Copyright forms will need to be completed by all authors with accepted papers at Tencon'05.
The Copyright Form can be downloaded in PDF or in Word. You need to include your EDAS number, paper title and all authors in the relevant sections. Please return the Copyright Form by Monday, 31 October 2005. Any forms not received by this date will mean the paper will not be included in the Proceedings or in IEEE Xplore. The Form must include the EDAS Paper Number at the top. It can be faxed to: 61 (0) 3 9925 5340 or emailed (signed versions only) to copyright@atcrc.com If emailing your form, please ensure that the signature can be clearly seen when the form is printed.
Poster Sessions
Poster sessions participants have been selected from the papers submitted. Papers presented as posters will be included in the Conference Proceedings and in the IEEE Xplore Database. Guidelines for Presenters are now available.

Prizes
A prize for the best student paper will be awarded at the Conference.
